Counselor's

Office

Dear Parents,

I am excited to be the new school counselor here at Enon Elementary. I look forward to working with you, your child, Mrs. Varnado, the faculty and staff. As the school counselor I am available to all of our students, not just a select few. I strongly believe in the benefits of classroom guidance and counseling. If our children are guided in the right direction with counseling and classroom guidance, we can prevent normal, everyday problems from becoming serious ones. There are however, times where students will experience some serious issues and I will also be available to help with those issues.

I will provide the opportunity for your child/children to explore and express their ideas and feelings in a non threatening environment. Counseling is a voluntary and confidential service. A child may see the counselor through several ways of referral. A parent or guardian may refer his or her child, students may refer themselves, teachers may refer students and school administrators may refer students.

Counseling services are provided in the following ways:
Individual counseling- Offered on an as needed basis.
Small group counseling- Groups will be formed based on the needs of the students and referrals from parents and teachers.
Classroom Guidance- Regular lessons in the classroom that focus on social and mental health issues, which are designed to promote personal growth in students.

I not only want to be available for students and teachers but also to parents and guardians as well. Please feel free to call me with any questions or concerns you may have. You may reach me by calling the school office at 839-3976.

Sincerely,
Sharon Phillips,
School Counselor
