Parents are expected to be an integral part of their child's education. I
believe it is extremely important that the student, the parent, and the teacher
work together for the child to reach his/her fullest potential.
I expect for the parents to see that the student does his/her homework, not
do it for them. I want the parents to listen to their child read nightly.
Parents are expected to review any concepts that their child is having
difficulty with in the classroom.
Finally, I hope that each parent will call me when he/she has any concerns
and problems. I want us to work together as a team!
The classroom is only one place where children are expected to learn,
but it is often the place where the majority of learning occurs. With
this in mind, I expect every child to come to school everyday ready to
learn and to help others learn as well. Students need to be prepared for
class daily by having all necessary materials and by having homework
assignments completed. They need to be ready to actively listen and
participate in the discussion and instruction. Students should always
possess the attitude that they will give me their best effort on every
assigned task. If all students do these things, it will be the GREATEST
YEAR EVER for all of us!

We will be working diligently everyday to teach the students to read
and comprehend to the best of their abilities. For this reason, I ask
that you have your child at school everyday, on time and not check
him/her out unnecessarily. The lessons that your child will miss cannot
be made up. Almost two hours a day is spent working with the teacher in
small groups. Learning will take place from the very beginning of school
until the last bell rings for the day!
Welcome to Mrs. Emmons'
Class
I love teaching. I feel great joy when I see children learn something new.
As a parent, you can expect me to do my very best to teach your child
everything I can. Through the years, I have received extensive training in
the areas of reading, math, and science. Because I believe school should be
interesting, I plan to use many innovative strategies to keep the children
actively engaged in their own learning.
