Student Expectations

Each student is expected to come to class fully prepared with completed assignments and supplies.  Each student is also expected to participate in class discussions and activities.

Every individual in my classroom will be allowed the opportunity to learn.  Therefore, a student’s best behavior is always expected.

Parent Expectations

Parents should take an active role in their child's education.  Therefore, I encourage you to assist your child with any assignments.  Please do not do the assignments for your child.  This only hinders educational growth, and your child will not learn.  I am available for conferences after school.  Please feel free to contact me.

Fifth Grade

Fifth grade is a "big" transition for some students.  This is the year when your child is expected to begin accepting personal responsibility for his learning.  It is also a transition year for the parents.  This is the year when you begin to step back a little and assist when needed.  I do understand what it is like, as I myself went through this transition with my three daughters.

Your child will be assigned various projects throughout the year.  Please contact me if you should have any questions or begin experiencing any difficulties.

About Me

It is my belief that learning is an action.  Therefore, students will be engaged in hands-on activities.  I do place my students in cooperative groups so that they are able to learn from each other.
